It’s been a while

omg-itsbeenawhile

It’s been a while, like 6 months.  I kept saying tomorrow I’ll write something and you know, life gets in the way. I always said I was blogging for fun, not to get a million followers, make money off of it or anything else. It was something I did because I enjoyed it. I still enjoy it but my time is often limited (isn’t that the case for us all), trying to juggle a family, commuting, a career, fitness, friendships, etc. and when something needed to give, it was the blog.

Over the last few months, I’ve traveled and spent quality time with my boys, we’ve done so many things, which included an adventure to Seattle at the end of the summer that was filled with so many incredible memories I will never forget.  Watching Ashton as he continues to grow has been equal parts amazing and awful (he just doesn’t need me for much anymore and that hurts my heart.) but he is growing into this incredible, kind, intelligent and funny little guy and I often ask myself what I did in this life to deserve him.

I’ve enjoyed time with my friends and watched their families evolve and grow. I’ve made some new friends and have enjoyed getting to know them and I’ve let some relationships go, a hard, but sometimes necessary thing.

I’ve been working harder than I’ve ever worked before at work, creating pieces that I am passionate about, that I think are educational and helpful to our patients.  I’ve honestly put out the best work of my career this year. I’ve been inspired, sometimes frustrated, but I can say I’m proud of myself this year. I’ve also had a lot of upheaval, cycling through 3 bosses this year (5 in the past 2 years!), which was challenging at times. My current boss is incredible, so I feel good about the future, however long that lasts.

I’ve run a bit, did some races with friends, but shifted my fitness goals this year to strength training. I’ve been power lifting and doing almost no cardio and it’s been life changing in the best way possible for me.  I hope to post more on that later.

So while I haven’t been posting much lately, I’ve been busy living a life I’m proud of and fulfilled with. Is it perfect? Hell no-is it ever?? But this year has been a year of change and growth for me and I’m looking forward to what the last few months of 2016 bring.

I’m not sure when my next post will be, I’m not planning that far ahead or putting pressure on myself to stick to a regular schedule. Rather, I’ll post when I can and when it feels right. Until then, I just wanted to check in, say hi and let you know what I’ve been up to!

Until next time, stay well!

Question of the day

What have you been up to these past few months?

  1. Great to see your blog light up my feed again 🙂 Life as a working parent is just crazy, and I can certainly (first hand, even) understand putting blogging below so many other priorities. I was so relieved when I gave myself that permission!.

Been loving seeing all of the crazy stuff you’ve had going on – and can only imagine being on your 3rd boss this year (I’ve had 3 in my 8.5 years at Corning – with the first only being there 3 months after I started … well, I also tend to work on projects all over Corning, so my ‘other’ bosses have been more numerous)!

It is an amazing thing as kids get older – you love seeing them grow, yet they are no longer your baby! Lisa and I were talking to other families at our B&B this weekend – Chris was always our more needy child, but is so independent now! Makes us proud and sad all at once!

Loved seeing a post … enjoy everything until we see you again! 🙂

  2. I echo MIke–great to see you in the feed! But I also love following you on IG and seeing Ash’s happy happy face and you beastmoding at the gym. If that is all that I get from you, I will take it, because you (and your venti Sbux :D) are busy busy busy and that is a privilege!
